PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM

Performing Arts is alive at Espiritu Santo Catholic School. Theater is a way for students to develop, refine, and challenge their abilities in public speaking, performance, and the technical elements of the stage. Children learn to express themselves through theater and cultivate collaborative skills by working with others. Our middle school students have an opportunity to be a part of the cast in a spring musical as an actor or stagehand. Actors will learn different aspects of singing, chorography, and staging in relation to their role. Stagehands receive an introduction to the behind the scenes characteristics of running a show, including live sound and equipment, microphones, stage lighting, costumes, curtain, stage management, props, scenery, and more. Some of our prior performances include: Sister Act Jr, Beauty and the Beast Jr, The Little Mermaid Jr, Willy Wonka Jr and many more. During the Christmas holidays, the middle school students perform in a Christmas themed musical and our fifth grade students participate as the choir. To end our year, the upper grades have an opportunity to audition to be part of the Talent Showcase. This is a chance for some students to perform for their peers and showcase their talents. Our Performing Arts program at Espiritu Santo helps to develop self-esteem and fosters compassion toward others.
